KathyKennedy2Dear Members and Friends of the Houston-Leipzig Sister City Association,

During late February and early March, HLSCA participated in two special events.  On February 23 we joined with Sister Cities of Houston for their Networking Dinner that highlighted Germany. Consul General Ricarda Redeker was the guest speaker at the German themed dinner at Kris Bistro in the Culinary Institute LeNôtre.  Then on March 1, we attended a private reception for Leipzig artist Edgar Leciejewski at The Inman Gallery.

And for our regular March meeting, we were fortunate to have Dr. Irene Guenther from the University of Houston as our guest speaker.   She gave a very interesting presentation on the subject matter from her book, Nazi Chic? Fashioning Women in the Third Reich.

Reminders:

  • April is Siegfried time in Houston. Houston Grand Opera (HGO) will present the third opera in Wagner’s Ring Cycle beginning on April 16 and ending on May 1.  In preparation, we are pleased to welcome back Paul Hopper from HGO as our guest speaker at our next Houston-Leipzig meeting on Tuesday, April 12.  If you have not yet purchased tickets for the opera, HGO is offering a discount to Houston-Leipzig.  To obtain the discount, use this code when ordering:  5020
  • It’s a little past time to pay your 2016 Houston-Leipzig dues. We now offer PayPal as a payment method. You can fill out your membership information and pay your dues here: http://houstonleipzig.org/membership

As always, I welcome your suggestions on activities or other ideas for our organization.  Please feel free to contact me at:  kathy@houstonleipzig.org
