Well, 2025 has started off with a bang.
January has flown by and I am already feeling behind in the myriad tasks I am supposed to get done. It’s going to be a busy year.
First, thanks to all Houston-Leipzig Members and guests who were able to join us at the Museum of Fine Arts for our January Member Meeting. I think y’all will agree that Dr. Helga Aurisch’s personalized tour of the Gaugin Exhibit was spectacular. We were proud to be able to present Dr. Aurisch with a Brennan’s gift certificate for two as a way of thanking her for the many years of joy she has provided our community. Thanks also to each of you who were able to bring a “Happy Retirement Card” to Helga. She was touched by your kindness.

February Member Meeting
Our Thursday, February 13, meeting will be held at the Houston Saengerbund Saengerhalle located at 1703 Heights Boulevard.   We’ll open with our traditional light dinner, drinks and social time at 6:30 p.m. followed by the meeting with special guest speakers at 7:00 p.m. (Registration begins at 6:15 p.m.) The cost for this meeting is $15 for Houston-Leipzig members and $20 for non-members.

I am pleased that Gigi Lee, Chief of International Affairs in Mayor Whitmire’s Office of Trade and International Affairs (MOTIA), and James Post, the newly elected President of Sister Cities of Houston (SCH) will be our joint guest speakers.  Together they will give us a better understanding of Mayor Whitmire’s goals for MOTIA, of the SCH’s plans for the coming year and how our organization fits into those goals and plans.

To secure your spot, please RSVP no later than Monday, February 10 to:

St. Thomas Choir of Leipzig (Thomanerchor)  & Leipzig Municipal Visit
March in Houston means the last cold front of winter, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and Spring Break. We boot-scoot from freezin’ to breezin’ in a matter of days – if not hours. Good Times!

At 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 16, the St. Thomas Boys Choir of Leipzig will present its sole Houston performance at Rice University’s Stude Concert Hall.
You don’t want to miss this rare opportunity to see this world class performance brought to us by our friends at the Bach Society of Houston.
Get your tickets now on Bach Society Houston’s website. Houston is one of the limited venues on their 2025 USA Tour and we want to have a strong turnout from our membership at this special event:
