Bach Organ SOLIDELGLOIA_AF_m_98_120_s_c1In commemoration of the 1000th Anniversary of the City of Leipzig, the Bach Society Houston presents an Abendmusik concert at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1015 Holman Street, Houston, TX 77004, on Sunday, October 4, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. The program will consist of music by Leipzig composers throughout history, with combinations of the Bach Choir Houston and vocal soloists, orchestra, and chamber ensembles, all celebrating the 1000th anniversary of the founding of J.S. Bach’s city. Included in the program are Gott ist mein König, BWV 71, and works by Felix Mendelssohn, Max Reger, Sethus Calvisius, Johann Schein, and others.

Dr. Jeffrey S. Sposato, Associate Professor of Musicology and Director of Graduate Studies at the Moores School of Music, University of Houston, will give a pre-concert lecture.  Tickets for the Abendmusik are available here or at https://bachsociety.secure.force.com/ticket/#sections_a0FA000000GgDqSMAV.
