It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our colleague and dear friend, Phil Cezeaux on February 13, 2025. A long-time member, dedicated director (later Emeritus Director), and former President of the Houston-Leipzig Sister City Association (2006), Phil devoted many years of service to the relationship between Houston and Leipzig.

Among his many contributions, Phil and his beloved wife Ute, played a pivotal role in leading the fundraising efforts and selecting the artist for the Peace Window in St. Thomas Church—a project of the Houston-Leipzig Sister City Association and Rotarians from District 5890 Houston. His leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment have left an indelible mark on our organization and all who had the privilege of working with him. In recognition of his tireless efforts, Phil was honored with Leipzig’s Golden Needle, an award given for extraordinary service to the city and its people.

Beyond his service to our organization, Phil was a distinguished attorney, respected for his integrity and professionalism. He will be remembered not only for his remarkable accomplishments but also for his kindness, generosity, and steadfast dedication to the causes he championed, especially the Rotary Club of University Area and the Texas (Rotary) Fire Fighters Home.

Phil graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in 1960 and an L.L.B. in 1963.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Ute, and their daughters, Andrea and Katherine.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with them during this difficult time.
He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will endure in the work he so passionately supported.

A memorial service will be held to honor Phil’s life:
