With much sadness we heard that Dr. Hinrich Lehmann-Grube, first Mayor of Leipzig after the fall of the Wall, died on Sunday, August 6, 2017.  He was 84 years old.  Dr. Lehmann-Grube was Mayor when the sister city relationship between Houston and Leipzig was established, and he was instrumental and supportive in bringing the cities of Houston and Leipzig together.  He made the famous quote: “Leipzig wants to be what Houston is and Houston wants to be what Leipzig was.”
