Here it is already February, and our next meeting will be in a couple of weeks.
Leipzig seems to be present everywhere. If you did not read the article Early Music Finds a Home in Houston in the weekend Houston Chronicle, please check it out here.
The long-time director of the Bach Archive in Leipzig, Harvard Professor, and the world’s leading authority on J. S. Bach, Dr. Christoph Wolff lectures on “Defining Bach the Composer – on the Brandenburg Concertos and the Mass in B Minor” on Thursday, February 6, at 7:00 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 2353 Rice Boulevard, Houston, TX 77005. The lecture is sponsored by Houston-Leipzig. The Houston Early Music Festival runs from February 8 to February 16, with the highlight on the last day: the performance of the Mass in B Minor presented by the Bach Society Houston with Peter Kopp as conductor.
In closing, I hope to see many of you at the Early Music Festival events and particularly at our next monthly meeting at the Museum of Fine Arts with Dr. Helga Aurisch.
