Twenty-one years ago, a group of five young men, all former members of the Thomanerchor (St. Thomas Boys Choir), founded ensemble amarcord, an a-capella musical group whose name has come to be synonymous with impeccable musicianship and whose performances of incredible beauty have enchanted audiences around the globe.  With a repertoire that includes music from the Middle Ages to modern compositions, from church music to folksongs from many nations to rock, pop, soul, and jazz, they have won numerous awards in Germany and abroad.

Their love of vocal music led them to found a cappella: an international festival for vocal music in 1997, an event that takes place in Leipzig every spring, and draws internatonal contestants and competitors as diverse as Swingle Singers, the Huelgas Ensemble, the ensemble Chanticleer and The Real Group.  They have inspired contemporary European composers to create works for them.  Members of the quintet are tenors Wolfram Lattke and Martin Lattke, baritone Frank Ozimek, and basses Daniel Knauft and Holger Krause.
