Dr. Gabriele Goldfuss sent us a heartfelt thank you for all of the donations from members and friends of Houston-Leipzig:
Dear Members and Friends of Houston-Leipzig,
Thank you for choosing to support the City of Leipzig’s activities towards the help of Ukrainians in Leipzig!
We are very touched to receive donations from our sister city in Texas to support people from our Ukrainian sister city Kyiv and their fellow citizens.
Thousands of them are looking for shelter in Leipzig in these days. The solidarity with all of the refugees is absolutely incredible.
We have decided to forward your donation to a very special and heart-warming group of volunteers: The so called „Safe Space Leipzig“. Behind this organization is a grouping of volunteers, offering food or toiletries to needy people who have fled from the Ukraine. Along with the first wave of refugees they were cooperating with a hotel next to the Leipzig main station. Very soon the situation changed and more space and infrastructure was needed. Now they are lucky that they have found new rooms, also in the city center: The socio-cultural center „Villa“ offered rooms where they can cook and collect further donations.
Your donation has made it that much easier to get all of these things done and thrust them forward. Please find attached some more information about this amazing initiative.
Once again: words are fleeting, and we want you to know that a simple “thank you” doesn’t do justice to how deeply we appreciate your support and your association with our cause. Truly, thank you.
Yours,
Dr Gabriele Goldfuss
