We have an extraordinary meeting lined up for you on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at 6:30 p.m.  You probably have heard of the Houston Innovation Corridor, and wondered what it really means.  It is an approximately four-mile “innovation corridor” that will run along Main Street from downtown to the Medical Center.  The iconic Sears & Roebuck building at 4201 Main Street is being remodeled as the center piece of the corridor.  It will be called The Ion and will serve as the heart of Houston’s new innovation district. Both the City of Houston and the Houston Greater Partnership started the ambitious project that is now being managed by Rice University’s Rice Management Company.

Many of you remember Deanea LeFlore as Chief of Houston Protocol and International Affairs, and as a Vice President of the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau.  She is now Director – Community Development, Partnerships, and Education at Tech Incubator Station Houston.  Station Houston will oversee the programming at The Ion. Ms. LeFlore has graciously invited us to a tour of their facilities at 1301 Fannin St. , Suite #2440, Houston, TX  77002 for our meeting (see special parking instructions below); this is what she wrote:

Station Houston incubates tech-enabled start-ups by providing them mentors, access to capital, and introductions to potential customers.  Our membership now includes over 180 startups, 350 members, 130 mentors, and dozens of high-impact, strategic partnerships with corporations that represent the key industries driving Houston’s economy.

Station Houston is helping to position Houston as a portal for startups from abroad seeking to access the U.S. market, particularly startups whose customers would include companies in Houston key sectors, such as energy medicine and transportation/logistics.

We are delighted to host the October Houston-Leipzig Sister City Association meeting in our space, provide a tour of our brand new maker lab, artificial reality lab, and provide an advance preview of the new Ion building, the $100 million investment from Rice Management Company to spur the creation of the South Main Innovation Corridor.

Visit Tech incubator Station Houston with us – and find out all about the impressive lineup and exciting plans to make Houston a giant in the tech and innovation sector.

Before we start the meeting at 6:30 p.m., some of you might wish to gather to get a bite to eat at the nearby Guadalajara Del Centro, 1201 San Jacinto (Space 141) | Houston, TX  77002, next to the House of Blues.  If not, just come at 6:30 p.m. to Station Houston.
