We had a wonderful program of Schumann music and tales about the Schumann family and its legacy with Sonja Bruzauskas, Tali Morgulis, and Nancy Bailey at Houston-Leipzig last evening. The Bach Society Houston presents the North American premiere of the St. Mark Passion, as it was performed by Johann Sebastian Bach in 1747. The music for this work was thought to be lost, but the survival of a single harpsichord part, with performance annotations in Bach’s handwriting, made it possible for the musicologists of the Bach Archive in Leipzig to authentically re-create the score. Performances are at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 2353 Rice Boulevard, Houston, TX 77005, on Sunday, March 24, at 6:00 p.m., and on Friday, March 29, at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are available online or at the door.
