Finally we are meeting once again in-person at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston for one of Dr. Helga Aurisch’s legendary guided tours on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. for the exquisite exhibit Incomparable Impressionism from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. According to Dr. Aurisch, the MFAH’s Curator for European Art, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see artistic works of great significance that usually are not lent by the Boston museum. Check here for more information from the MFAH.

Most of you have been privileged to participate in one of Dr. Aurisch’s guided tours:  her lively and humorous depiction of the background of the artist, the subject, and execution of the work draws the listener in and gives a greater understanding of the painting or drawing. In her professional life, art has been her focus.  She studied at Smith College, the University of Vienna, and the University of Freiburg. You can check out a more complete CV of her here. If you’d like to hear some comments by Dr. Aurisch on this exhibit, please watch here.

The cost of the guided tour is $18 per person, and in order to participate in the tour, you must prepay to our organization by Saturday.  Payment instructions will follow tomorrow. For members and patrons of the museum, the MFAH informs us that “the same rate applies for those with memberships and those without. Museum members may only use their benefited exhibition ticket(s) to self-guide through the exhibition on an individual basis outside of the group reservation.”

Requirements of the MFAH include Masks are required to be worn by all participants of guided tours, including the tour guide. A risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public setting. In the interest of your personal safety and community health, please observe all the precautions set forth by the Museum. More details at www.mfah.org.
