PianoQuintetLpzWe are delighted to welcome the Leipzig Piano Quintet to Houston! Our first opportunity to hear these talented students from the Conservatory for Music and Theatre Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Leipzig will be on Thursday, October 1, at 7:30 p.m., when the Bach Society Houston presents them at a chamber music concert at the Archway Gallery, 2305 Dunlavy Street, Houston, TX 77006. Cristina Goicea, violin, Camille Vasseur, violin, Ronen Shifron, viola, Moritz Klauk, cello, and Vita Gajevska, piano, will play works from Schulhoff, Suk, and Mendelssohn. The group will be joined by the Rolston String Quartet of Rice University for the Mendelssohn octet.Tickets are $25, $20 (seniors), and $5 (students).  Reception following the concert.

On Friday, October 2, 2015, from 7:30 p.m to 9:000 p.m., Henriette Reinhold, mezzo-soprano, and Vita Gajevska, piano,   present an evening of lieder and arias by Bach, Handel, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Mendelssohn, and Strauss at Dudley Recital Hall, Moores School of Music at the University of Houston, Houston, TX 77004 (map).  All are invited for a pre-concert reception at 6:30 p.m. to celebrate the partnership between the Moores School of Music and the Hochschule fuer Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. Please click here for a separate post on the partnership.   

On World Communion Sunday on October 4, 2015, the Quintet will play at the worship service at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 5501 Main Street, Houston, TX 77004, at 11:05 a.m. The Rev. Tommy Williams is senior pastor at the church. Leipzig Mayor Burkhard Jung will bring a greeting, and mezzo-soprano Henriette Reinhold, , will sing Bach Cantata 169, Gott soll allein mein Herze haben.

Also on October 4, 2015, the quintet will perform at the Sister Cities of Houston Fall Concert, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at St. Thomas University.  For more information, see our website at http://houstonleipzig.org/?p=4244. There will be a reception with the artists after the concert.
