HoustonfestDear Friends of the German language,

I would like to invite you to volunteer as a judge at the Houstonfest German contest on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Lanier Middle School in Houston.

Houstonfest is the annual regional German competition for students in grades 8 through 12. It is also the qualifying event for the Texas State German Contest and features 42 different categories (a few examples are skit, culture test, photography, folk dance, contemporary music, and poetry reading). Over 600 students from 25 schools in the Houston area are coming to this year’s contest.

We need as many German speakers as possible to evaluate the students’ performances in order to make the competition successful. No special training is necessary. Please let me know if you are available and willing to serve on February 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

You can read more about us at www.houstonfest.org. If you have a preference for which event you would like to judge, let me know.

Thank you for your consideration, and feel free to forward this e-mail to others who might be interested.

Director, Houstonfest
