Houston, August 26, 2013.  Rustin Buck, an impassioned teacher of German at Clements High School in the Fort Bend Independent School District, received the 2013 German Embassy Teacher of Excellence Award. He is one of only three teachers in the nation to receive the distinction, presented by the German Embassy Washington in cooperation with the Goethe-Institute and the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG). The award recognizes the excellence of teachers who perform outstanding work as intermediaries of the German language in the U.S. He will be honored at the annual conference of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages and will spend two weeks this summer at a seminar at the Goethe-Institute in Germany.

Buck was named Texas German Teacher of the Year in 2000 and has served as Director of Houstonfest, Local Coordinator of Clements High School’s Global Language Academy (2008-2009), President of the Houston Chapter of AATG, Member of the Board of Directors and Coordinator of the Houston-Leipzig Sister City Association Student Exchange Program and the German American Partnership Program.
