Samba School Exhibition in Brazil

Bom dia – come and join us at iFest, Houston’s annual celebration of international art, music, and cuisine. The next two weekends downtown comes alive with the sounds and tastes of many countries, especially Brazil, this year’s honored country.  Musical legends appearing at iFest include Bootsy Collins, Diogo Nogueira, The Wailers . . . .  You’ll see carnaval parades, international dancers, and street performers; experience foods from many different nations; if you wish, take samba lessons or savor a gospel brunch; mariachi bands and ballet folklorico . . . Oi! Opa!

Houston-Leipzig has been participating in iFest for most of the last 20 years, and once again we’ll be in the Sister Cities of Houston booth next to the International Stage on the Library Plaza.  We’ll be showcasing short German films on the stage and handing out material for Houston-Leipzig, Leipzig and other German destinations.  Other sister cities will be joining us from time to time.

Volunteer for Houston-Leipzig for a couple of hours and you get into iFest free all day.  Even the weather is cooperating – it’s supposed to be a spectacular Houston spring weekend!  We are planning to have at least two persons in the booth at all times. The festival is open from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday/Sunday, April 20 and 21, and Saturday/Sunday, April 27 and 28.

Become a volunteer and write to us at angelika@houstonleipzig to let us know that you’re interested in being a volunteer,  on what day and at what time you would be available, and we’ll send you  instructions on where and when to meet and how to get an armband for entry.

Até depois – see you later, hopefully at iFest, and Cheers tim-tim!
