The Consulate General of Italy, the Consulate of Sri Lanka in Houston and St. Thomas University present the screening of Paola Randi’s Into Paradiso. The movie will be screened with English subtitles on February 24 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Thomas University – Jones Hall, 3910 Yoakum Drive, Houston TX. Admission is free of charge. Refreshments will be served.

Alfonso is a Neapolitan scientist, shy and clumsy, who just lost his job. Gayan is a charming but penniless former cricket champion from Sri Lanka, who just arrived in Naples convinced of having found a Paradise. Alfonso spent his entire life studying cell migration and watching soap operas with his mother. Gayan traveled, and has known fame, glory and fortune.
What do these two men have in common ? How is it possible for two so diverse people to meet and permanently tie their lives to each other ? In multi-ethnic Naples, Alfonso and Gayan’s destinies cross. They must share a shanty illegally built on the roof of a building in the heart of Naples’s Sri Lankan district. Due to a tragicomic misunderstanding, Alfonso is forced to hide from a criminal group and Gayan becomes first a hostage then his only ally. Amidst this bizarre situation a special friendship grows, a bond that will give them the courage to face their destinies and change them forever.
Into Paradiso received several awards, one of them the Platinum Award at the Houston International Film Festival in April 2012.
