It’s summer time, and Houston-Leipzig explores German films for a light entertainment fare.  We found a delightful movie and are showing it on Thursday, July 19, 2012:  Im Juli (In July) by award-winning Director Fatih Akin with Moritz Bleibtreu, Christiane Paul, and Mehmet Kurtulus. The movie is in German with English subtitles.

How far do you have to go to find love?  A geeky, guileless student teacher from Hamburg finds himself seeking love in unexpected places.  On his way, pitfalls abound as he encounters a number of characters; some teach him about life, some just a lesson.  Especially memorable is a vexing, sexy siren, who leaves him penniless and without a passport on his travels.  It could be a German-Turkish road movie – it could be a coming-of-age film:  whatever you want to call this odyssey,  Im Juli (In Juli) is a great mixture of adventure + comedy + romance combining great cinematography with gorgeous music = a film not to be missed.

We cordially invite you to join us on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. for our food and beverage reception and the movie in the Parish Hall of Christ the King Lutheran Church, 2353 Rice Boulevard, Houston, TX 77005.  Check out our Events page for a map.  Parking is available at the Rice University parking lot off Greenbriar across the street from the church.  Meeting fees are $15 for nonmembers, $10 for members, and $5 for students.
