For the 32nd time, the Concerts at the Bach Monument offer a summer program from Bach to Blues with renowned national and international artists. Until August 29 the free concerts take place every Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the Bach Monument; if it’s raining, in the St. Thomas Church. This coming Monday (08-08-2011), the Polish band “Me Myself And I” will perform hip-hop, ethno, blues and reggae. The following week, the Berlin-based band “Engerling” plays earthy blues and boogie. One of the highlights is the concert of the renowned Leipzig String Quartet (“Leipziger Streichquartett”) with works by Haydn and Mendelssohn on August 22. On August 29 the a capella ensemble of five former Thomaner members, “Ensemble Nobiles”, and the “Sächsisches Klaviertrio” will play pieces by Schumann, Brahms and Mendelssohn Bartholdy.
